IT’S ON!!! Local, travelling and international surf filmmakers, don’t miss out on entering the Byron Bay Surf Festival‘s short film competition! This year has TWO short film competitions running!
1. BROKEN BUCKETS – BARREL FEST
Highlighting the treasures of our local region!
You’ve had a few glorious winter months to shoot and edit a 2-5 min short film of your best barrels (tubes, pits, slaps) of 2013. All footage needs to come out of green rooms between Brunswick Heads, Byron and the Ballina shire. So stick on a your waterproof phone or bust out that big lens to bring some tubular vision to our screen for your chance to win!
2. ‘SURF CULTURE NOW – EXPRESS WHAT IT IS FOR YOU’
A wide and open theme for anyone across the globe to enter!
Show us what Surf Culture Now means to you in a creative 2-5min short film. It can be around surf art, music, travel, lifestyle, community, charity, family…etc. It can come from anywhere within reach of a surf culture. (English subtitles might be advisable.)
Get weird, get deep, get creative, get whatever surf culture means to you! We’re hanging out to see your entries so shoot ‘em, cut ‘em and send ‘em through to be in the running for some EPIC prizes.
FINALISTS
Five finalist will be selected prior to the festival by an elite team of surf film industry professionals. See the five short films live and witness the final judging with legendary surf film makers Paul Witzig, Dick Hoole, Alan Rich, and Johnny Abegg. These guys will select and judge the winning films on the night, 26th Oct 2013 at the Community Centre Byron Bay.

Epic prizes up for grabs!
The overall winners are in for a treat. A unique opportunity to refine their skills through a mentorship program by talented, inspirational and award winning surf film maker Nathan Oldfield, besides being able to win GoPro cameras, Skullcandy headphones, surf equipment, goodie bags and more…

Entry Fee:Â $10 to be paid by 27th September 2013
Deadline: 27th September 2013 (email us for extensions)
Post Film on:Â Private Vimeo or YouTube, pay your entry fee and email all details to byronbaysurffestival@gmail.com (the five finalists will be notified and asked to post DVD copy before 11th October 2013)
