All of us here at Common Ground are delighted to welcome Anna Porter to the team. We are stoked to announce that Anna will be managing Common Ground Byron Bay for us. Her background is in film and television and her heart lays on the coast- specifically now Byron Bay.
At 18, Anna received her own Regional Arts Development Fund grant and has produced and directed many of her own music videos and documentaries some that she has contributed to Common Ground in the past. Anna graduated in 2010 from QUT in Queensland with a Bachelor’s Degree. She has since worked on several productions in Queensland and interning for Byron Shire local, Cathy Henkel’s, production company Virgo Productions.
She then moved to Bali to pursue her dream of surf photography living on The Bukit Peninsula surfing and indulging in her love of photography everyday under the mentor of a professional surf photographer. It was here where she grew as a photographer, a surfer and a woman. After spending all of 2011 in Bali Anna moved back to Australia and found herself in Byron Bay. Anna feels Byron is the right place to establish herself and can see the dots slowly joining up for her.
Anna established ‘Anchored Byron Bay’ in October 2012. She produces the daily surf report and sees the operations of Anchored as just another routine to her day. Incorporating Byron Bay’s blessings into her daily grind is how Anna would like to spend her time here in Byron, and the rest of her life. Which is why she jumped at the chance to step up and take on the role of running Common Ground Byron Bay.
