Close to the heart (Jonno Howell)

The Byron Bay community said farewell to Jonno Howell yesterday… What words can express saying goodbye.

On what would have been his 28th birthday, 200+ people, from our wonderful community and beyond, where together in honour of Jonno. With a booming swell at the Pass, you could almost feel Jonno was in the air, keeping everyone on their toes with the swell, wind, rain and the golden light of his soul, shining down on all of us.

In the centre of a circle formed outside of the Pass, Jonno’s parents, David and Colleen scattered his ashes, while a lonesome bird circled above, and 150 of his closest bobbing in Jonno’s playground, the ocean that he called home.

We will miss you Jonno, in so many ways, and in so many experiences, but within our heart you will live on. May you always be felt in the coldest wind, the sunniest sky, and through all of those you have touched. Thanks for being you.

Johnny
