Festival of the Seven Seas

iStock-499779224 SMStraight off the back of a sold out tour with old writing buddy Dean Lewis, Mikey Bee of MT Warning is returning to his local region for an important cause this weekend.

The inaugural Festival of the Seven Seas will be held at Byron Bay Brewery this Sunday 20 August.

Festival of the Seven Seas is a fundraiser for local conservation groups Plastic Free Byron and Positive Change for Marine Life, and will work to raise awareness of the crisis faced by the world’s oceans.

“It’s hard to not get involved with such an important event,” says Mikey, who has a deep respect for the oceans through his love of surfing, and friendship with surfing legend Taylor Steele. “Taylor taught me a deeper understanding of and respect for the ocean.  I learned a lot about surfing culture through him”.

Since their debut a few years ago, MT Warning have been making a habit of getting involved in cool initiatives, such as their recent collaboration with Fallen BROKEN Street that Mikey describes as “a way to connect musicians with brands and vice versa… pictures for music and music for pictures”. They’ve been jumping on a 70’s Bedford Bus, playing shows between Sydney and Melbourne from the roof.

“We’re releasing three videos starting in late September,” Mikey shares.

This weekend, though, it’s all about supporting Plastic Free Byron and Positive Change for Marine Life in raising awareness and action in the local community.

Festival of the Seven Seas is a Family Friendly Community Event to Help Save Our Oceans.

The day will be educational and will feature guest speakers and demonstrations suitable for children of all ages.
