Chris’s pre-loved bicycles

My lady Rani recently found a dead pushy on the council clean up and decided to get the good bits off her bike and build a new and improved super bike, it didn’t turn out that well…

I got a phone number of a guy that lives a South Golden Beach that loves to restore and recycle bikes so I gave him a call and we took it up there for him to check out. On the way we found another ladies old school 10 speed that was a little neglected and sitting on top of the road side rubbish heap at Ocean Shores, in it went and we were on our way again. We arrived and Chris repaired the original bike that Rani had attempted to give renewed life to whilst enjoying a chat and the cheeky banter of our daughter Ocean.

We left the bike we found on our way to Chris’s house and he said he would let us know if it could be resurrected. The next day I got a call from a very excited Chris informing me that the 10 speed was ready to go and had come up a treat. I thought Chris may get a little more business if you guys ran a little CG article on him, I took my camera along to pick up the pink weapon and got a few snaps.

Chris loves the community spirit of Byron Shire and he is really nice guy. I had a little go at writing an article, I didn’t want to banter on to much but if you would like to include some of what I’ve written above go right ahead:) The pushy might well be the most perfect invention of all time. Faster than walking, healthier and better for the environment than driving a car, more versatile than the bus, jumping on your pushy is an ideal mode of transportation.

I find the best way to beat the summer time traffic blues in Byron is to use pedal power. Best of all, riding around this beautiful region we call home is fun. It gives your body a workout when you’re going uphill. Even better, it gives cheap thrills when you’re going downhill. There is no better way to get the endorphins flowing than cruising around with the wind in you hair and the sun on your face. The old faithful pushy is still very practical, and pretty damn cool, too. If we wanted a symbol for the way our society should be—clean, healthy, inexpensive, built to last—you could do a lot worse than the humble bicycle.

If your looking for the most economical and green option when purchasing a bike for the summer months get yourself a rebuilt, recycled pushy from Chris at South Golden Beach. Chris can also get that once loved but now rusted pushy behind the shed back on the road to freedom. Chris is a long time resident of Byron Shire, he traded in the hurly burly lifestyle of Byron a few years ago for the laid back serenity of South Golden Beach.

Chris lovingly restores pushbikes of all shapes and sizes, with a lot of elbow grease and a touch of baby oil pushbikes that were destined for landfill are given a new lease on life and transformed into eco friendly modes of transport.
