The sixth annual Sample Food Festival is shaping up to be the biggest one yet. The one-day event, held at Bangalow Showground, attracts over 15,000 visitors from all over the country, this year taking place on Saturday 3rd September.

The one-day event held at the Bangalow Showground in the Byron Bay region, is the premier food, produce and artisan festival for Northern NSW.
Sample Food Festival day features $5 and $10 tasting plates from 28 local restaurants. The remaining 100 plus exhibitors are made up of local producers, artisans and creatives.
There are celebrity cooking demonstrations and guest chefs including Ben O’Donoghue, Spencer Patrick, Dan & Steph, Sam Gowing, Janella Purcell and Clayton Donovan. Sample is a family friendly event and offers children’s activities as well as a serious line up of musicians rounding up a full day for visitors.

8.30 – 9.15am – Chrissy Freer will be cooking a delicious recipe from her latest book.
9.30 – 10.15am – The Five Kungkas will do an indigenous inspired demo with North Coast TAFE Students
10:30 – 11.15am – Acclaimed Chef Spencer Patrick and Samantha Gowing go head to head in a Mystery Box Challenge with the local TAFE students
11:30 – 12.15pm – Guest Chef Kate Walsh will demonstrate three easy great recipes using Macadamias. Following Kates demonstration she will be selling and signing copies of her book – Real Food Projects : 30 Skills. 46 Recipes. from Scratch.

12:30 – 1.15pm Hot Smoking Sausage Cook Off – MKR Dan & Steph vs “the locals” Bangalow Sweet Pork & Salumi Australia – making pork and macadamia sausages
1.30 – 2.15pm My Mayor Rules – Heat One. Lismore vs Byron Bay. Local mayors & chefs receive a box of local food ingredients and create something amazing.
2.30 – 3.15pm My Mayor Rules – Heat Two. Kyogle vs Richmond Valley. Local mayors & chefs receive a box of local food ingredients and create something amazing.
