Another year, another Bluesfest gone.
In our festival rich corner of the world, it’s sometimes far too easy to take for granted what a rich showcase of artists land on our doorstep from year to year, and this year’s Bluesfest was certainly as rich as any. As usual, Bluesfest sets itself apart from other festivals in terms of general diversity – in genres of music and both gender and race of performers – which is perhaps why after this many years operating it’s still the festival of choice for many Australians; a yearly pilgrimage of sorts.
Over five days we were enthralled by the rich mix of Blues, Soul, Indigenous (Boomerang Festival!) and Contemporary (plus more) acts all with the common thread between them that above all else, they were seasoned and engaging performers. Well done Bluesfest, and thanks for another great year!
