The latest single release from WHARVES, local indie rockers, is a gem of a track worthy of taking a few minutes out of your day to appreciate.
The track, ‘Buildings’, has steady and tender beginnings. Described by the band as “a story of missed opportunity, regret and wanting control of a love that can’t be tamed”, it delivers on the promise of not being tamed. Revealed in the ensuing buildup is the reasoning behind this song finishing every single live show the band has played. After minutes of expertly built suspense have you ready to bust out of your body, WHARVES deliver the crescendo you were craving, knew was coming but wasn’t sure of quite when it would hit you. The final minutes are spent with your ears following the guitarist’s deft finger-work, along with the prowess the full band has to offer.
Helping with the task of harnessing this live energy masterpiece into recorded form was producer Paul Pilsneniks (Powderfinger, Silverchair, Angus Stone) who produced and engineered the song, and Matthew Gray (Giorgio Moroder, The Middle East, Yves Klein Blue) who handled the mastering.
The band is undertaking a series of shows in support of the new release, then looking toward an EP release later this year.
