Nina Las Vegas & Sunday Safari

The next installment of Sunday Safari on Sunday the 5th of  February at The Buddha Bar Restaurant. Welcoming a variety of prominent talents including Triple J House Party resident Nina Las Vegas, Gold Coast triad Dead Beat Band, Adelaide native Luke Million and Queensland newcomers The Belligerents – All settling in at the Buddha Bar on Sunday February 5.

Most commonly known for her smooth-talking voice on Triple J’s House Party every Saturday night, Nina Las Vegas is more than just a pretty face. As well as producing mix-tapes, pod-casts and radio specials, the wonder woman of the DJ world is also known for her all-girl club DJ super-group, Hoops. Nina’s dedication to playing the most exciting sounds from all over the world is just another reason to witness the creative genius for yourself.

Replacing the boys from The Cairos (who instead will be playing next Safari due to a clash of performing dates), Dead Beat Band will be making a much-anticipated appearance at the Buddha Bar. Hailing from the Coast of Gold, the punk rock trio have had a busy 2011 playing at numerous local shows and venues rocking out their self-titled debut with ‘Gypsy Girl’ a crowd favourite. As well as this, the boys have been keeping their soon-to-be-released album under wraps, creating more buzz for the fans. Fitting nicely into the alternative scene, these dudes will be well fitted for the crowds of Byron Bay. We look forward to their raw tunes.

Most people will know him as the synth wizard from Australia’s premier disco act The Swiss, but Luke Million is jumping on the solo bandwagon and making a name for himself. In 2010, Luke via Australian label Future Classic brought us his debut EP ‘Italo Journey / Octobussy’, which was a synthesizer odyssey paying homage to his influences. June 2011 saw a spacey remix of Auxiliary the Master Fader’s ‘Disco Dictator’.

To top off the night, 5-piece band The Belligerents will be gracing the Buddha Bar with their indie dance sounds, an appropriate setting for the lads. In late 2010 the boys signed with Major Label, releasing their debut single ‘These Hands.’ Their five-track debut EP ‘Less Arty More Party’ was released in January 2011 subsequently taking the boys on their first Australian tour. While the boys have been busy with this current EP, the next one is already in the making and will be released in early 2012. Come along to see just how in-tune The Belligerents are.

And of course the Safari wouldn’t be complete without its tasty drink specials from 4pm until 6pm. $8 Pina Coladas & Mojitos, $10 jugs of beer and Sangria.

The Safari runs from 3pm until 10pm.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from www.moshtix.com.au and will be available at the door unless sold out.
