The Last Sunday Safari (’till spring!)

  • Music

Yup it’s that time again! Time to start planning your next Sunday Safari evening. And oh how we love a summer arvo’ high on life,  jungle juice and fresh tunes at the Buddah Bar. Now make the most of this months event as it’s the last Sunday Safari for Summer (sigh) not to return ’till Spring. In saying that keep your ears tuned as there will be two special events held over the Easter and June long-weekends.

Here’s what’s happening on Sunday the 11th of March 3:00 – 10:00…

To bring a momentary end to the excitement Sunday Safari presents one of Byron’s favourites – Ajax. No real need for introductions here however for those who require an update the one-man-beat-machine is head honcho of Sweat It Out records as well as being one of the Bang Gang co founders and members. Since 2005 he has been voted Australia’s number 1 DJ five times, 2x (InTheMix) & 3x (3D World). His performance this Safari will be in conjunction with his recent production project ‘Twinsy’ which many Safari-goers are already raving about. We anticipate a wild performance by the number one man himself.

Having to reschedule their previous show with Sunday Safari, the boys from The Cairos are extremely excited to finally make their Sunday Safari debut. The show is part of the ‘We All Buy Stars’ EP tour, which also celebrates their hit single of the same name. The track has received a bevy of rave reviews and radio requests over the past months reflecting the boys’ talent for creativity and all-round musical goodness. The foursome will be travelling throughout Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria as part of the tour so we look forward to their visit this Safari.

Another Byron favourite Sampology will be back once again to demonstrate his love for mash-ups and creative combos. Last time he graced the Buddha Bar as part of his ‘Hell on Wheels’ tour but this time the man is back purely for some party pleasure. We’re still hanging out for his debut album, which is due out in mid 2012 however until then we’re happy to hear some classics by the creative collaboration genius.

Joining the rest of the crew are new kids on the block PAM PAM PAM! – a five piece from the Gold Coast who indulge in upbeat and progressive indie-rock and have been compared to the likes of Interpol, Silversun Pickups, Joy Division and Kings of Leon. Their self-titled debut EP was a hit with Australian audiences and as a result helped the band establish a steady reputation within their genre. The five-piece have played with bands including Rose Tattoo, Gyroscope, Miami Horror, Cloud Control, DZ Deathrays, John Steel Singers and Hungry kids of Hungary.

Event organizer Joshua Pollard anticipates the night to be one of the biggest yet for the Safaris and says he can’t wait to start organizing next summer’s shows. Hinting there will be a lot more surprises and international artists in store.

And … of course who could forget the drink specials from 4pm until 6 pm: $10 jugs of Beer & Sangria, $8 Mojitos & Pina Coladas.
